After finishing his undergraduate degree at James Madison University, Dr. Copeland (better known as Dr. Ken to his patients) graduated from the Medical College of Virginia Dental School at VCU in 1987. He then went into private practice with his father where he received an excellent background in performing the highest quality dental procedures with the latest technology. In 1996, Dr. Ken completed a year long miniresidency for the American Academy of Implant Dentistry at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Ken moved to the Shenandoah Valley in 1999 and has been practicing dentistry here since then.He is a member of Doctors Offering Oral Conscious Sedation and is a certified Invisalign provider. Dr. Ken is active in the Donated Dental Services program and volunteers at the Harrisonburg/Rockingham County Free Clinic to provide dental treatment for those less fortunate. He and his wife Beth are very active in raising their children and in their church. He enjoys a wide variety of outdoor activities in his free time including hunting, fishing, four wheeling, horseback riding, and scuba diving. Dr. Ken works hard to establish a rapport with his patients to make them feel comfortable with their decisions regarding their dental health and treatment as well. Beth is our office manager and is Dr. Ken’s wife. She is responsible for making financial arrangements for patients and handling insurance issues. Beth graduated from West Virginia University with a Masters in Mathematics in 1997. She taught math at Turner Ashby High School for eight years before joining Dr. Ken’s staff. She also has experience working for a third-party ESOP administration company. When she is not at the office, she enjoys volunteering at her children’s schools, cooking, scrapbooking, playing with their 9 younger children, and completing Sudoko puzzles. Beth is CPR certified and enjoys attending seminars and workshops to learn more about the dental field and the latest procedures/technology. Beth, having been an Invisalign patient herself, is a major advocate of the benefits and ease of Invisalign. Lori is one of our Patient Care Coordinators. She has been a part of Dr. Ken’s team since March of 2000. She takes care of scheduling appointments, answering phones, going over treatment plans, and helping patients better understand their insurance benefits. Lori loves being part of this wonderful staff and working with such great patients. She is a “people person” and loves getting to know her patients and building a “friendship” relationship with them. When you call our office, it’s a good chance you will be talking to Lori. If you get called “sweetie” or “honey” then you are guaranteed to be talking to Lori. Outside of the office, Lori enjoys spending time with her family and friends and going camping. Her top priority in her life is raising her son, Matthew, who is her pride and joy. Lori is exceptionally gifted at remembering patients and showing her genuine concern for them. Ramona is the Hygiene Coordinator here at Ken Copeland Family Dentistry. She has been married for 30 years to her wonderful husband, Larry, and has two amazing children, Victoria and Larry. Ramona has lived in Harrisonburg since 1995 and absolutely loves it. She has worked in the dental field as a receptionist for 15 years and truly enjoys helping patients feel welcome and at ease in the dental atmosphere. She is also proud to be of service as a translator and help Spanish-speaking patients feel equally welcome and at ease about meeting their dental needs. Ramona loves being a part of the Ken Copeland Family Dentistry team. When she is not helping patients keep up with their dental hygiene, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking for fitness, reading and going to the movies.________________________________________________________________________________
Anna is our insurance and financial coordinator. She is available to help our patients better understand their insurance benefits, present them financial options to help them afford their treatment, and to help schedule treatment to meet their budget and dental needs. Born and raised in Rockingham County, Anna graduated from JMU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences and joined our team after 5 years in the Health field. She is a newlywed with a “big baby boy”, Moose (her brindled Boxer). Her husband, Canaan, is a good sport allowing her to experiment with making up new recipes. She loves being outside camping, fishing, hiking, and enjoys water skiing in the summer. Anna is athletic and loves sports, especially playing softball and basketball. During football season, you will find her cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles. Anna’s family and friends are a source of enjoyment for her; she loves spending time with them and planning get-togethers. Anna is excited about working in the dental field and is committed to providing our patients with the information they need to plan for their dental treatment. Corrinne’s passion for dentistry began over 44 years ago. She has been a dental assistant for Dr. Ken Copeland since October of 2005. She has assisted in general practices (such as Dr. Ken’s), pedodontic practices, orthodontic practices, and oral surgery practices giving her a wide array of experience. Corrinne has been married for more than 42 years. She has a son and daughter and is the very proud grandmother of three grandsons. When she is not working, she enjoys cooking, photography, the outdoors, shooting sports, and spending time with her family. Corrinne is very skilled at explaining to patients how procedures are performed and letting them know what to expect during treatment. She is CPR and Radiology certified. Corrinne is an advocate of Invisalign as she is currently in treatment herself and is an example of the benefits of Invisalign at any age. Amy has been a dental assistant for over 14 years, working with Dr. Ken Copeland since January 2000. She has worked 2 years with an Oral Surgeon and 1 year with a Periodontist as well. Amy has a sweet personality and is very endearing to her patients. When you see Amy at the office, you will likely find her smiling. She enjoys taking continuing education classes to learn more about Invisalign, state of the art procedures and up to date materials. She is CPR and ACLS certified as well as being certified as a Surgical Assistant. Amy has been a part of the American Dental Assistants Association.
Amy is married and is a proud mother of 4 children with whom she enjoys camping, fishing, and hiking in the summer months. She also enjoys baking, cooking, reading, NASCAR racing and football. Dawn is a Registered Dental Hygienist who joined our staff at Ken Copeland Family Dentistry in September 2007. Prior to that, she had worked with Dr. Ken while he was employed at Copeland Family Dentistry. She is a local Valley girl who graduated from Spotswood High School in 1989 and received an Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from Lord Fairfax via VWCC in 2002. Dawn is CPR and Radiology Certified. Prior to becoming a hygienist, Dawn worked as a Dental Assistant for 9 years. She has been married for over 19 years to Shannon Lokey and has two teenagers (a son age 16 and a daughter age 13). Dawn is very active and loves being with her family and enjoys life to the fullest. She loves taking photos, hiking/walking (doing just about anything outside), working out, and cooking/baking. Angela and Dawn have the same philosophy about oral hygiene and work together to help all patients feel comfortable and to assist them in maintaining their oral hygiene. ________________________________________________________________________________
Angela is a Registered Dental Hygienist. She joined the team in 2008. She graduated from Virginia Western Community College with a degree in 1996. In 2009, she received her local anesthesia and nitrous oxide certification from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has worked in both general and periodontal offices throughout Virginia. In addition to dentistry, she was actively involved in water rescue and a member of the Jefferson Area Council for National Disaster Relief. She is an advocate for continuing education and believes that there is nothing more valuable than knowledge. “Evolution is essential in every dental career. ” Angela resides in Fishersville along with her husband of 11 years and her “babies” (four rabbits and two parrots at last count). She is into yoga, crafts, cooking, wine, and hanging out with friends and family. She has studied spanish both in high school and college and, although doesn’t speak as well as she once did, enjoys using it in the office to help patients who otherwise might not understand.________________________________________________________________________________
Shawna is a Dental Assistant in the Hygiene Department. She joined our team in July 2007. Shawna has 4 years of dental experience in a Pediatric and General dental office. She is CPR and Radiology Safety Certified. All aspects of the dental field appeal to Shawna. She loves to work in dentistry whether she is assisting with fillings, educating patients about proper oral hygiene techniques, or polishing a patient’s teeth. Married to a law enforcement officer for over 11 years, she has a handsome son named Josiah. In her free time, she enjoys scrapbooking, shopping, watching football (FSU!), and gathering with her family.
